Who We Are

Hello - you may be wondering who we are. I'm Sarah, the owner of Blakeslee's Place Rabbitry. Rabbits have always held a special place in my heart after my very first rabbit - a Florida White named Reba - that was a gift from my grandparents. Blakeslee's Place is co-owned by my amazing boy friend, Christian! If it wasn't for him supporting me, I don't think any of this would be possible.

Deciding to start a rabbitry didn't happen overnight, and has been a dream of mine since 2014 when I got my first breeding pair of New Zealands - Buddy and Thumper - and a lovely English Lop doe named Bubbles. I never had much success breeding my New Zealands, however, the dream of wanting to work with and show English Lops started with Bubbles.

Unfortunately, Bubbles passed away in 2019 before I ever got into the hobby despite looking for more English Lops to begin my own herd. I continued to look, but never found any close enough to us that I could get at the time. And in 2020 I had to stop looking due to family issues that resulted in us moving and unable to get any more rabbits - I was luckily able to bring with us the three rabbits I had at the time.

In 2023 I started looking into showing again! I hadn't quite decided what I wanted to work with yet, and it was a toss up between New Zealands and Dutch for a while. However, in 2024 I found Freedom Wing's Bumblebee on Facebook and knew that it was a sign to get into English Lops, and truly start the dream I've wanted since 2014.

Sine June 2024, we've been to multiple shows and even won many awards. I'm very excited to see where this journey leads, and hope to be able to continue showing and breeding this amazing breed.

Why the English Lop?

Though Bubbles did influence my decision to get English Lops again, she wasn't the only reason. I choose English Lops because of their laid back personalities and easy-going nature.
